Hi
I have exchange server 2003 running on SBS2003 and have a problem when =
sending mail in a certain configuration.
Our domain hosting is provided by a hosting company and this allows =
unlimited email addresses. I have the main employee emails setup as =
standard pop3 emails with the hosting company. Our exchange server =
simply uses the pop3 connector within exchange server to access these =
addresses, pull down the mail and deliver it all internally to the =
relevant exchange mailbox. This works fine.
Secondly we have some other email addresses (lets call them "secondary" =
for now) which are set up as pop3 account with the hosting company =
exactly as the ones above are. These are then accessed by individuals =
using standard pop3 setups such as outlook express (i.e. no connection =
to exchange server at all). These mailboxes are accessed and mail =
delivered to the client pc independantly of any exchange involvement.
The problem exists when sending mail to any of these secondary emails =
from INSIDE our office (i.e. on our network). We can send emails from =
any exchange account to any random email address without a problem. If =
we send an email to any of these secondary addresses from OUTSIDE the =
office then they are again delivered no problem.
I think the error arises when we try to send email out from our office, =
which relies on our exchange server. I think the exchange server is =
incorrectly deeming the account to be local and is trying to route email =
to a local address, when in fact it is external (ie hosted by our =
external hosting company).
I think our exchange server seems to have been set up to manage incoming =
email for formbysurveys.com (our domain) and I need to configure it so =
that it thinks that formbysurveys.com is externally managed. Is this =
correct?
I'm not an exchange person so any guidance would be helpful.
