I have installed BCM 2010 on Windows 7. I have successfully shared my DB and have full access from my laptop, which is nice. (Like many of you, I am bewildered by the fact I cannot yet sync my Blackberry, but I digress...) I have just spent a very frustrating 20 minutes on the phone with three different people at Microsoft trying to understand the new pricing of all the various versions Office 2010. I have loyally upgraded over the years basically every program I have ever owned. The fact upgrade pricing is no longer going to be offered is one beef however what is worse, if I am understanding this

For Outlook you can switch Outlook.pst between two computers by keeping it on a external harddisk or SD card. But what do I do with BCM to keep it synchronised? I was not thinking about backing it up, but a more easy way? If there is any And thanks.

Does Outlook 2010 Business Contact Manager have the capability of creating Project Templates? If so, can someone upgrade to BMC 2010 without having to upgrade the entire Microsoft Office suite?

We have the RTM of BCM 2010 installed and are using a shared database located on a SQL server. Up until yesterday the database functioned fine, all users had no issues with seeing contacts, opportunities, accounts etc. Today, all users are missing some contacts, and about half of the opportunities. Running BCM 2010 32-bit, on a 64-bit machine. Has been working just fine, then a few weeks ago, whenever I try to create something new I get that error. There are no other dialog boxes open. I tried uninstalling Office and all related connectors, and reinstalling. I even deleted the DBs.

We have recently upgraded our servers to 2008. Small Business Server 2008 with Windows Server 2008 (32) as a member server. The member server is running Sql 2005 Standard and Sql 2008 Standard. Is it possible to create a distribution list from within BCM. Currently I can create a distribution list in Contacts. It will hold Business Contacts, but the distribution list itself will not show in Business Contacts. It only shows in Contacts. How do I get a Distribution List to show within Business Contacts? We have deployed our BCM 2010 database (RTM not beta) to a SQL server to share the database amongst several users. We can successfully connect to the database from client machines. And the user access works (create, save, edit, etc). Through work I purchased Office 2007 HUP and installed word, access, excel, and PP. When I open any the installer looks for MSSMLBIZ.msi. I don't have outlook installed so why do I need business contacts to open? If I cancel the installer I can use the program VERY annoying. Please help.

Can department 2 get their own database on the same server by simply having someone create the database and share to the appropriate people? I am at the business contact manager pane, and viewing the business contacts tab. Here all of my contacts are listed in what appears to be a random order. I click view on the ribbon, and then view setting, and then group by, and then select to group by catagories. When I accept these settings my contacts are sorted the way that I want them. Our msdn download says that BCM is included in the version of office 2010 that I've downloaded but it's not there. Beta of BCM doesn't work with RTM of office. Office 2010 was released to business customers a few days ago also. What's going on MSFT?

I recently migrated this database from another machine. The forms that won't open are customized forms. I imported the customizations after exporting them from the old machine. Stock forms open fine. The data is there, I can see the records; just can't open a form. The only difference I can find is a version mismatch in BCM. The machine I exported the forms from was version 3.00.

All: I am trying to understand the logic of the software before I commit to categories, as I understand they are dictated in the Outlook portion of the program. I would like to be able to have 4 overarching categories: leads, propects, accounts and business contacts. If I understand the software, it has opportunites defined as "project potentials" associated with accounts.

The Business Contact Manager group are surely keeping a low profile. Every where I look, people are questioning why some update to the release version of BCM is not published. We have Outlook 2010 but no BCM. I think this is a shoddy way for Microsoft to treat its loyal customers!!!!!!!!!

After installing BCM, can I rename the database? I realize that I should have given it a proper name at the time of install, but I accepted the default name. Do I have to create a new db and then import my information into the the new db? (It would be a lot easier if I could just rename it.)
