windows xp, outlookexpress 6

I want to import message from one computer to another
both xp and outlookexpress 6

copied the dbx files in the folder . . . Local Settings\Identities\-{'the
identity'\microsoft\outlook express\ all the dbx files
to the computer I want to get the messages to

use outlookexpress import dialogue to import selected .dbx files

reports success
lists all the messages

BUT

when selecting a message the message pane is blank and just hourglasses.
