This is a piece of wood that I found on a hill in Mineral Wells, Texas,
where I used to play as a child. I brought it home a number of years ago
as a keepsake of happy childhood experiences, and because I liked the
shape of it.
I took these pictures today while working in the yard. I think this wood
is actually a root from a mesquite tree, or it may be from a cedar tree.
I don't know ... I just like it. I have never paid any close attention
to it until I saw the pictures. It was then I discovered what appears to
be the head of a wolf or coyote with its mouth open on one side of the
"sculpture".

Moved it to the patio among the cacti where it looked more at home. Its
real home in the yard is a rock garden, but that is full of leaves that
haven't been raked yet.

While I was in the yard, the lady who lives next door (other side of
duplex) came out with her dog, who made a bee-line to check out the
"sculpture". So I took her picture too. Her name is "Mia". She's a teeny
tiny pooch who runs like crazy. I think she might be able to beat a
greyhound!

One thing I've noticed is that the EXIF data seems to be lost when I
crop the pictures. I'm assuming that's it. I also resize the pictures to
make the file smaller. I can't see how that would affect the data.
That is your field trip for today. Tune in next ... whenever I get
around to it.
