Greetings everyone,
I'm deploying a Synology NAS with iSCSI targets.
The objective is to move my current fileserver to the iscsi volumes
created.
Currently I have the volumes and targets created and I have the iSCSI
initiator mounting them on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.
My issue is, after mounting the file iSCSI targets, from time to time

settings for these and how to set them? I'm not sure I understan what

Hi
I am a volunteer IT person at a not for profit organisation. We have a server running sbs 2003 which we intend to use only for intranet.
My problem is that I am able to access the companyweb site from the server but not from any other computer on the network or externally via port 444.

Just had a quick question and I was hoping one of you might have an
idea. I have added a second two way trust domain (domain B) to our
forest and I need for the users in that domain to be able to VPN in
through our Watchguard firewall useing the Radius server I have
already set up and working for domainA. I have tried adding the user
from the second domain to the existing permission

Windows 7 and Windows 2008 provides the easiest way to change the
Logon Screen.
You just have to set registry value and copy the image in perticular
directory and you are done.

Somehow the file-type [File Folder] has gotten screwed up.
For *no known reason* last week, when I clicked on a file-folder in
Explorer (My Computer) a Search window opens.
File-type [File Folder] is doing the "find" even though that is NOT
default (no default was set).
To try to correct this, I added option "Open" and set as default. The
behavior is better but now when I click a

Windows 7 by default display's only folder name on the taskbar. If
you have too many folders open, then it becomes difficult to recognize
the folder is from which drive.

Hi printer wizards...
I seem to have a strange problem and I spent a couple hours googgling,
and here, but no help was found. In our production environment, we
have a W2003 64 bit domain server with Active Directory. When my
program enumerates printers by using "EnumPrinters
(PRINTER_ENUM_REMOTE, ...", it returns all the AD printers as
expected. But in lab, the server is a 32 bit

A vbscript executes as either a service or scheduled task.
The wscript.echo output needs to be displayed in the command window of
the logged in service account.
I've found no way for the service/task to interact with the desktop on
server 2008.
any suggestions?

primary zones configurated. Each dns are on domain controllers on
differents sites.
Is possible to add a new dns with active directory intergration on a
new delegation site???

I have a Dell box that has a four port NIC card. I have one port connected
to my internal switch and that's working fine. Now I'm trying to connect
a second port of the four-port NIC card to my DMZ. I'm running Hyper-V

We have our Windows 2003 servers fairly locked down by NTFS, and when a user
browses the Internet they are logged in as an ordinary user with minimal

After countless hours troubleshooting this problem and attempting all of the fixes found online it turned out my issue was as simple as Network configuration.
I had the exact symptoms of Jobs 'spooling' to the printer slowly, typically during higher printserver use and with larger printjobs. I attempting all of the fixes I could find:

Experts,
I just installed Windows 7 x64 on my Latitude E6420. To this I
connected an external Signature Mini 250GB USB disk, using 2 Y USB
connectors, both plugged into the laptop. The moment I plugged in the
USB connectors, the disk is recognized and all is fine.However, when
I shutdown (power down) my laptop and then restart it, the disk does

Hi we have an app deployed on a windows 2008 R2 server. We are using it through remote app. When a user on an XP box opens the app it will automatically snap to a corner if he drops it near the corner, like the auto snap in windows 7. Does any one know how to turn that off on the server? It is problematic in remote app

significant application on it will be SQL Server Express.
I see some very good offers around for entry level at 1Gb RAM; will W2008 R2

All right, I am puzzled.
I am copying programmes and folders / data from Win2K3 to a USB
and then from the USB stick to a Win2K8R2 server.
The Server is activated.
Thye problem is that the data is copied as read-only.
A programme did install but still get read-only data.
Even tried make the foler not-read-only but it changed back.
What am I not doing correctly?

Hi,
I'm trying to use "w32tm" to check on out servers here and I'm,
seeing the follwoing problem with some (not all) of
our server and can't seem to find out why. Here's the command:

I have deployed printer using GPO, however in the event viewer on the
client I tested it says that printer cannot be installed because there
is no drivers. Fact is the drivers are not standarf drivers that are
included in Windows installation. At the same time I have shared this
printer using Printer Manager and if I manually go to shit printer

I've been reading on several tech sites that Windows 8 and Windows
Server 8 Betas are available for download. I DO have the workstation
version downloaded.
But I CANNOT find the site for downloading Windows Server 8. I even
looked at the complete list of dowlonads on MSDN and couldn't find

AD/GPO, I have this thing in my head that if my client machines are pre-set
with as much settings as I want already then this is faster than doing it
all through GPO.

I am having problem setting up VPN service on Server 2003. My machine has a
single IP interface so the standard configuration is refused and I am told I
must choose a Custom configuration. I've tried many combinations of services
but nothing gives me routing. I can log in, get authenticated and receive an
IP address from the pool I created but no routing to the Internet.

OK, OK this could be classed as my fault, but I'm really a newbie when it
comes to servers, AD, etc. I can manage the process OK, but I'm not what I'd
call an edugeek :0)
In a nutshell I look after two schools and we had a Windows 2003 Server R2
machine in both so that we could utilise AD to manage users, lockdown the
PCs with GPO, shares for teachers, shares for pupils,

As long as I've worked with Windows servers, I'm embarrassed to admit
that I don't completely understand ntbackup. I've used EMC Retrospect
for many years to back up client computers (including files on a file
server), and I simply relied on SBS Backup when we were running SBS.I

When running portqry on Windows 2008 and Window 7 I am unable to get
it to report, "Port to process mappings". It works fine with XP and
Windows 2003 by using "portqry -local -v" and sending it to a text
file. Does anyone know how to get portqry to list "Port to process
mappings"?
